City of Wodonga

Stanley St Retail Precinct, Wodonga

The client's brief was to create a streetscape for a modern retail plaza, as part of a retail revitalisation project.

We selected a combination of Butia capitata, Phoenix canariensis and various Pyrus species, as well as complementary shrubs and groundcover.

Possessing an elegant, weeping crown, Butia capitata is slow-growing, cold-tolerant, drought-tolerant and wind-tolerant, so is a great choice for this kind of streetscape.

Since planting, the Butia have thrived, developing a pendulous, shaggy crown, contrasting the clean lines of the streetscape's sculpture and architecture.
