An urban favourite, Ficus hillii is one of the most versatile trees commonly available.

Although usually trimmed to shape, when allowed to mature naturally, it develops an upright form with a massive, weeping, canopy making it an attractive shade or park tree.

F. hillii is extremely hardy, and its ability to survive dryness, shaded positions, compacted soil and air pollution makes it ideal for use as anything from a street tree to a garden hedge.

Its ability to be shaped, its hardy nature and its dense, glossy foliage mean that when trimmed, it can make amazing, dense hedges, and is frequently and easily topiarised.
